5 signs your ECM process is slowing production
A good Engineering Change Management (ECM) process should make production faster and safer. When it does the opposite, the warning signs are usually visible long before anyone calls it a problem. Here are five to watch for.
1. Nobody can say which change is where.
If you cannot answer how many changes are in flight and at what stage they’re in, you are flying blind. Without a single view of every Engineering Change Request (ECR), decisions wait, and parallel changes drift out of control.
2. Wrong or outdated revisions reach the shop floor.
When change requests are disconnected from the bill of materials, production ends up building from the wrong revision. Scrap, rework, and delay follow, and they are expensive.
